UTRGV Celebrates Over 3,200 Graduates Spring 2025

UTRGV wrapped up its Spring 2025 commencement on May 16-17, marking a big milestone for the university with more than 3,200 students crossing the stage. The ceremonies took place at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, and showcased the diversity of the institution’s academic programs.

Celebrating Achievement and Community

And what do you think the goal will be? Well… it seems UTRGV wanted to make sure every college and school had its moment. The event was split into four ceremonies over two days, each tailored to specific groups—nursing, fine arts, health professions on Friday morning; education, engineering, social work in the afternoon; sciences and business on Saturday morning; and liberal arts in the evening. I love teaching but even more I love learning something new every day, and here, I think the university genuinely aimed to highlight the breadth of achievement.

The atmosphere? Filled with cheers, streamers, and performances by Mariachi Aztlán—the university’s pride and joy.

Security was tight, only clear bags allowed, which seems to be the standard now. All that to keep the event safe and smooth.
